AIDS, Education Program, Community Development
Living Hope is working in six different communities in the Cape Town area. This organization, one of the first of Extreme Response’s partners, is an amazing catalyst in changing lives of the hopeless. They use health-related and social programs, education and community development to do this. They have recently developed three different areas of work:
The Living Hope Community Centre seeks to bring hope and compassion to the chronically sick and dying in a holistic way and do everything possible to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS. They do this through Prevention (support groups, life skills education, social workers and health counselors) and Palliative Care (with a 22 bed health care center and home based care)
The Living Grace aspect of the project seeks to transform the shattered lives of the destitute and homeless through feeding, counseling, poverty relief (clothing, gov’t ID assistance), addiction recovery and job placement.
The Living Way aspect seeks to spur economic development for the poor and needy through savings clubs, entrepreneur development, worker readiness school and vocational training.
