Job Training/Community Development
Faraja, Kenya is a residential vocational and leadership training school. It is dedicated to finding exceptional young men and women who are AIDS orphans from the slums of Kenya and helping them develop into leaders for the future of Kenya.

Through a network of churches and humanitarian groups the goal is to select young people who have demonstrated extraordinary qualities of entrepreneurship and moral values and place them in a residential facility. They will be exposed to many skills (construction, mechanics, carpentry, etc.) and certified in at least one. The program will have them actively involved in on-the-job training which will be supplemented by extensive training in leadership skills, business subjects and problem solving. There will be mentoring from members of the African business and professional community as well as visiting mentors with business skills from the US.
As students become proficient they will be placed in jobs with local businesses. When they are ready to develop businesses of their own, mentors will partner with them to increase their chance for success and necessary capital will be made available to them in the form of loans. Our vision is to produce young men and women who have risen from the most abject social conditions who will be able to transform their society.
